Our Albury Heritage

After holding church services in various houses in the community, James (Jacobus) and Elizabeth Peack (Peck, Peeck) gave the gift of land in the early 1800's to be used as a church, school and burying ground. In 1898, the present Church was built and dedicated following Methodist traditions, which were strong in Prince Edward County.

The Church building is oriented north and south. It is of brick veneer with a tower on the west side. A full basement was built which serves as a Church hall.

In back of the Church is Albury Cemetery, in which are buried many of the pioneers who moved to the area as United Empire Loyalists after the American Revolution.

The rich story continues in Our Albury Heritage.

Our Rednersville Heritage

The story of the Church in our community began in 1791 with the arrival of the United Empire Loyalists to the shores of the Bay of Quinte, and the preachers who came with them. The preachers road on horseback from community to community holding revival meetings.

In 1817, at a revival in the Brickman neighbourhood back of Rednersville, Peter Redner was converted and became the "first class leader". In 1822, another revival took place and the first class was organized among the Thomas Dempsey family on the Bay Shore of Ameliasburgh (Albury) about six miles east of the "Carrying Place".

The rich story continues in Our Rednersville Heritage.

Some memories of Rednersville School by Irene Boomhour provide interesting reading.
