Hello. I am looking for information on Robert W. Scherer, an
American who was a Captain (Air Force??) during WWII. He was a stamp collector
and a student of postal history. During the 1950s and 60s, he was very
active in the American Philatelic Society and exhibited in the area of
postal history extensively (US, Canada, Sweden, Norway and probably other
northern European countries as well). He developed a large display dealing
with air mail via Iceland prior to WWII and called it "Vikings of
the Air." Some years ago, this display was donated to the Spellman
Philatelic Museum in Massachusetts. We are now reviving this display for
a special presentation and are looking for biographic information on
Capt. Scherer. If you have any suggestions on where to look or who
to contact, please contact me at the email address listed with this message.
Thank you.
