Sailing
from Berthier-sur-Mer, the crossing to Grosse Île takes about 40
minutes. This is the first impression of the island as the boat approaches
the dock. From left to right, the Celtic Cross on top of the hill, the
First Class hotel hidden in the trees, the wash house by the water, the
Third Class hotel behind it and the Second Class hotel next. Lastly, is
the Disinfection Building built in 1892 where immigrants and their belongings
were disinfected.
