Cabinetry
Product Character
The favoured design influences at
Ross Cabinetry are James Krenov, George Hepplewhite and the Shakers.
The careful design of each piece
reflects functionality with simple, natural beauty and strength. The proven
methods of construction, such as dovetail joints and mortise and tennon
assembly, produce a neatness of appearance and honesty of construction not to be
found in modern, mass-produced furniture.
All furniture is handmade.
Traditional joinery such as hand cut dovetails, sliding dovetails, floating
frame and panel, and mortise and tennon is incorporated as much as possible. The
preferred type of drawer construction employs the use of dovetail joints with a
floating drawer bottom. Drawer slide design may be either traditional or high
quality metal slides. Doors are constructed with a floating frame and panel and
hung with quality brass hinges.
